Arab Street is a street, but also an area which was originally a Muslim district. It still retains some of its history – the Sultan Mosque is there and shops, cafés and restaurants also have a Middle Eastern influence, despite the fact that the ‘Arab’ population has been diluted over the years through mixed marriages and a policy to ensure a mix of ethnicity throughout Singapore.
